ROCHESTER, NY - Two members of the Utica University men's basketball team have been named to the Chuck Resler Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Dayion Thompson (Beacon, NY/Kimball Union Academy) averaged 14 points per game in both tournament games, shooting .375 from the floor across two contests. Thompson was perfect in both games from the free throw line, going 8-8. Against Springfield. Thompson netted 11 points, while shooting .364 from the floor, .250 from three, and was 2-2 from the line. Thompson also got in on the action defensively with a pair of steals. Against Rochester, Thompson was good for 17 points on .385 shooting from the floor, going 6-6 from the free throw line. Thompson was also able to dish out a team high four assists.
Ryan McCardle (Hurley, NY/Kingston) averaged 11 points per game in both contests, and was a total spark for the Pioneer offense off the bench. The senior guard managed to shoot .667 from the floor across both games, and was an impressive .857 from three point range. Against Springfield, McCardle was good for .571 from the floor and was a perfect 2-2 in his three point attempts. Against Rochester, McCardle was good for .800 from three point range, with all of his basket attempts being threes. McCardle was also able to get in on the defensive action against Rochester posting a pair of blocks.
Thompson, McCardle, and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, November 19 as the team remains on the road to take on the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs. Tip off from Morrisville, NY is set for 6pm.
