Junior midfielder Alaina Stojkovski of the Utica College field hockey team was named the college’s female athlete of the week on Monday.

The 2012 Empire 8 tournament MVP was impressive yet again in the 2013 edition of the conference tournament, as the Pioneers took top honors for the second consecutive year. In the semifinals, Stojkovski did not tally a point, but added to the Pioneer shooting gallery with two shots on goal. She also helped out on a Pioneer defensive unit that allowed just one shot on goal through 70 minutes of regulation time.

On Sunday, Stojkovski had a goal in both halves of a 5-2 win over fourth-seeded St. John Fisher in the Empire 8 Championship Game. Stojkovski now has 11 goals and six assists on the year.

The Pioneers begin NCAA Tournament play this Wednesday. UC will host NAC champion Castleton State in an opening round game at 3 p.m.
