Utica, NY (12/9/13)- Kelsey Cowell of the Utica College women’s basketball team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Cowell, a freshman, made the most of her first two collegiate starts. She averaged 13 points and 13.5 rebounds over the course of two games to help the Pioneers to a 2-0 week on the road. She had a team-high 17 points and chipped in with 12 rebounds in a 68-49 win over the Massachussets College of Liberal Arts on Tuesday.  Then netted nine points and a career-high 15 boards in a 71-56 victory at SUNYIT on Thursday.

On the season, Cowell averages 7.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest. She has appeared in all seven games for head coach Michele Davis. 

Utica wraps up the fall semester as it hosts Union College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
