Utica, NY (5/12/14) – Senior pitcher Alec Choleva of the Utica College baseball team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his impressive performance on the mound last week.

Choleva pitched a complete-game no-hitter against Keuka College last Tuesday as the Pioneers won the game 8-0. In seven innings of hitless work, he struck out four while walking only one. Choleva was 2-5 on the year with a 6.21 era and was second on the team in strikeouts (29).

UC finished the season with a 9-23 overall record.  After starting off the year on a three-game winning streak, UC dropped eight straight before winning the Jackie Robinson game against Hamilton. The Pioneers finished the season winning five of their last 16 games. Eight of the team's losses were by two runs or less.
