Kathryn Schumann was hired in the fall of 2016 as an assistant coach for the track and field program. She will also assist with day-to-day operations and recruiting.
Schumann comes to Utica College after spending four years coaching cross-country and track and field at Mercy High School (CT). She spent two years as an assistant coach and then moved to head coach. During her time at Mercy, her teams won five Southern Connecticut Conference championships, one in cross country, two in indoor track and field, and two titles in outdoor track and field. In the spring of 2015 the outdoor track and field team won its school first CIAC Class L State Championship. Two CIAC Class L runner-up team finishes came in cross-country in the fall of 2014 and indoor track and field during the 2016 winter season. Schumann also served as the assistant cross-country coach at Longmeadow High School (MA) in the fall of 2011.
Schumann earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Springfield College in 2012 where she also competed in track and field. While at Springfield she earned All NEWMAC, New England, and ECAC honors. She also earned All - Academic honors from the NEWMAC and USTFCCCA.
Schumann, is a USTFCCCA certified coach in the sprint and endurance events. She currently resides in Utica and is pursuing her master’s degree.
