Gregory Copeland

Gregory Copeland was hired in the Fall of 2015 as an assistant men’s and women’s track and field coach.  Copeland’s focus will be with the sprinters and hurdlers along with assisting the coaching staff with recruiting, scouting and day-to-day operations in the office

Copeland recently graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, and minor in Psychology.

At UMass, he competed in the pole vault and as a multi. He competed at the NEICAAA Indoor Championships in the heptathlon finishing with 4,566 points as he set a personal record.  He is also third all-time at UMass in the heptathlon.

At the Atlantic 10 Championships, Copeland finished fourth in the decathlon scoring a personal best of 5,844 points.

In the 2013 indoor track season as a sophomore, he jumped 15-1 in the pole vault which was good enough for fifth all time at UMass and then followed up in the outdoor season with a leap of 15-3, ranking him fourth all-time.

A 2011 graduate of Longmeadow High School in western Massachusetts, he won the 55m hurdles, the 110m hurdles and the pole vault his senior year at the Western Mass Championships.  He set a new Western Mass pole vault record of 14-3 and also holds his high school record in pole vault at 14-7.

Gregory is currently residing in Utica, NY and studying for his master’s at Utica College.
