Mark Childs is entering his second year as assistant coach for the Utica College cross country, track and field teams in the summer of 2010. He will be responsible for overseeing the men’s and women’s middle distance, long sprinters and relays as well as assisting Head Coach Jason Rose with all facets of the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams. 

Childs is a 2010 graduate of Heidelberg University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History.  A four year letter winner for the Heidelberg track and field/cross country teams, he was a six-time NCAA Division III National qualifier in both the 800m and 4x400m relay. He was also a part of the OAC Conference Champion team in both Cross Country and Outdoor Track & Field in the 2009-2010 seasons. He set four records while at Heidelberg including the indoor and outdoor 4x400 meter relay, sprint medley and 4x800 meter relay.

Childs is a 2006 graduate of New Albany High School in New Albany, Ohio, where he competed in football, wrestling, and track and field. He excelled in both football and track & field. He was a two time second team All-Ohio athlete in footbal and he qualified for the state tournament in three track events, placing three times as well as setting seven school records.

His previous coaching experience includes working with the New Albany Hgh School summer track club, as well as peer coaching for the Heidelberg University track and field/cross country teams.

He currently resides in Utica, NY.
