Steve LoFaso, from Liverpool, New York, was hired in September of 2025 as the head coach of Utica University's Men's Wrestling program. LoFaso has earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Physical Education, leading to his tenure as a P.E. teacher since 2009. His first coaching experience came in 2005 with Greece Arcadia High School's modified team, his alma mater.
After graduating from Greece Arcadia in 2003, LoFaso began his post-high school education by earning a Bachelor's in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport in 2008. After beginning his teaching career in 2009, LoFaso went on to complete his Master's in Physical Education at the University of South Florida in 2011.
Coach LoFaso has contributed to several high school wrestling programs over the last two decades. After beginning his coaching career with his alma mater, LoFaso jumped to Penfield High School's wrestling program from 2006 to 2008, serving as an assistant coach under National Wrestling Hall of Fame head coach John Leone. His first varsity head coach opportunity came with Red Creek High School in 2008 to 2009, where Coach led the team to the school's first state champion, and the first winning season in 17 years. LoFaso next coached at Central Square, serving as an assistant coach for two seasons before earning promotion to the head position. In his most recent opportunity, LoFaso spent nine years with Liverpool High School, serving as an assistant coach for three years before again earning the promotion to the head role and coaching for six more years at Liverpool. Over his career as a whole, LoFaso has coached to a 118-34 record, won NWCA State and Regional Coach of the Year honors, and has been named the Coach of the Year for his team's league four times.
