UTICA, NY (11-7-11)- Senior defender MacKenzie Roy of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday.
Roy, a native of Concord, NH, registered an assist on the Pioneers’ lone goal in an 8-1 loss to nationally ranked No. 2 RIT on Sunday. With the assist, Roy has 50 career points, which moves her ahead of Courtney Bank ’07 for first place on the College’s all-time scoring list for a defenseman.
Roy has the most games played among active players with 82 and she has registered 16 goals and 34 assists over the course of her career.
The Pioneers return to action Friday for the first game of a home-and-home series against Oswego. UC is 9-1 all-time against the Lakers, with their only loss coming by way of a 3-2 overtime defeat in the 2009-2010 season. Friday’s game will begin at 4 p.m. at the Aud.
