UTICA, NY (2-13-12) Sophomore Chris Jeffers of the Utica College men’s basketball team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week, Monday.

Jeffers averaged 13.0 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in two games last week.  On Friday, he netted 15 points and grabbed a career-high18 rebounds in UC’s 63-61 victory over Alfred.  He followed that up with 11 points and five boards in the Pioneers’ 71-68 win at Elmira.

Jeffers leads the team with 8.4 rebounds per game and is second on the team with a .730 free throw percentage.  He is also averaging 6.3 points per contest.

The Pioneers are currently 9-15 overall and 5-8 in the conference.  They return home for the final game of the regular season on Saturday as they faceoff against Ithaca College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
