Utica, N.Y. (10-11-10) – Senior forward Roberto Sgueglia has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17, 2010.  The honor marks the second time this season Sgueglia has been named the school’s athlete of the week. 

Sgueglia broke the school’s single-season scoring record after registering a team-high seven points in three games last week.  He tied the record, set by Shawn Davie’97, after tallying two goals in the Pioneers’ loss to Hamilton College on Wednesday night. 

He went on to break the school’s single-season mark when he assisted on the game-winner as the Pioneers’ defeated Ithaca College, 1-0, in Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday.

After netting a breakaway goal in the Pioneers’ 3-1 win over Wells on Sunday, he now has a conference-best 35 points on the year. 

He currently ranks in the top ten nationally in point per game and headed into last weekend he was tied for first in the nation with ten assists.
