Utica, NY (2/27/12) – Junior Sylvester Owusu-Afriyie of the Utica College men’s track and field team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Owusu finished first in the 60-meter dash at the NYSCTC Championships this past weekend.  His ECAC qualifying time of 7.01 was just .07 short of the Scott Field House record.  Owusu-Afriyie then helped the Pioneer rely team to an eighth place finish in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:33.37. UC finished ninth at the meet. 

The Pioneers return to action Friday at 2 p.m. when they compete in the ECAC Championships at the Armory Track & Field Foundation in New York, NY.
