Utica University Athletics

Utica, NY (10/1/12)- Freshman Kells Casey of the Utica College field hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday.

The native of Sandwich, MA picked up a 2-1 overtime victory over nationally-ranked No. 18 University of Rochester, in her first collegiate start, Friday.   Casey had six saves through 81 minutes of work on the day.

The Pioneers are currently 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.  They return to action Wednesday as they host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  The non-conference contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
