Utica, NY (11-26-12) – Senior Rob Morton, of the nationally-ranked No. 10 Utica College men’s hockey team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday. Morton netted two goals, including the game-winner, Saturday night as UC knocked off nationally-ranked No. 8 Amherst College, 4-3, at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in front of 3,816 fans.
The New Hartford, NY native is currently tied for third in team scoring with nine points on five goals and four assists. He has tallied six points over the last three games including two goals and one assist in an 11-2 rout over Elmira on Friday Nov. 16.
The Pioneers presently hold an overall record of 6-2 and are in second place in the ECAC Men’s West Conference with a 3-2 mark. UC is third in the nation in scoring offense averaging 5.50 goals per game for a total of 44 goals in eight games.
