Megan Myers of the Utica College women’s ice hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The senior from Las Vegas, Nevada paved the way for the Pioneers in two 5-1 conference wins over visiting Buffalo State. On Saturday, Myers had the team’s first goal and added three assists in the wire-to-wire win over the Bengals. On Sunday, Myers scored the shorthanded game-winner at 11:39 in the second period, and added another in the third to help UC close out the season sweep.
In all, Myers had three goals and three assists between the two games. She has a total of six goals and seven assists this season, and has recorded a point in all seven games. Nationally, she ranks 12th in both goals and assists, and seventh in total points. She is currently the college’s second all time leading goal scorer with 61, and needs thirteen more by the end of the season to tie Deana Wiegand ’07 for the most in school history.
Utica closes out the fall semester with the 2nd edition of the Gold Ribbon Game against Hamilton College on Friday at 7pm. The game will take place at Clinton Arena in nearby Clinton, NY. Both teams will wear special edition gold jerseys, with proceeds going to the Shawn Grady Fund. For more information on the game, visit ucpioneers.com.
