UTICA, NY (January 13, 2014) - Junior forward Marty Felicia of the Utica College men’s basketball team was named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The 6-foot-8 junior averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per games as the Pioneers went 1-1 in two Empire 8 Conference games over the weekend. He scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists in the Pioneers’ victory over visiting Ithaca College Saturday afternoon. He also added 11 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in a tight loss to Elmira College on Friday night.
Felicia, who has started all 13 games this season for UC, is currently averaging 8.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest. He has two double-doubles this season and he is shooting 58% from the floor (41-for -71).
The Pioneers snapped a four game skid on Saturday and they are currently 6-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play. Utica will hit the road this weekend when the Pioneers travel to Rochester, NY to take on Nazareth College and St. John Fisher College in consecutive evenings. The Pioneers will square off against the Golden Flyers on Friday night at 6 p.m. before traveling down East Avenue to take on the Cardinals at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
