Utica, NY (3/10/14) – Freshman Rebecca Plunkett of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after her impressive performance in two games this past week.
Plunkett recorded ten points in just two games this past week. On Wednesday, in a 7-5 win over Skidmore College, she netted three goals on just six shots. She also grabbed five ground balls, caused a turnover, and secured four draw controls.
In a 7-6 victory over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday, Plunkett scored six of the team’s goals on just 11 shots. She also recorded two draw controls for the Pioneers.
Plunkett is currently second in the conference in goals per game (3.67) and first among freshmen. She is eighth in draw controls per game (3.00) and 11th in ground balls per game (3.00).
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday (3/11/14) against Clarkson University at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The first draw control is set for 4 p.m.
