Utica, NY (4/21/14) – Senior Anastasia Bowden of the Utica College women’s track & field team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday for her performance at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships.
Bowden was busy at the E8 Championships as she participated in four events. She led the way for the Pioneers with a first-place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.78. The time Bowden posted was her career best, a new program record and a new record for the facility. Bowden also helped break program and facility records as part of the 4x100 relay team. The team of Bowden, Brenna Stewart, Sarah Wiatr and Nikiya Harris won the relay and posted a season-best, ECAC qualifying time of 49.34. Bowden also took fourth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.02 and she teamed up with Samantha Prendergast, Sheila Ramos and Abby Schaible to finish fourth in the 4x400 meter relay.
UC returns to the track Saturday at Brockport for the Golden Eagle Run at 10 a.m. The meet will be held at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium. The Pioneers then head to St. John Fisher College for the New York State Track Conference Championships the weekend of May 5 at the Polisseni Track.
