UTICA, NY- Senior Ashton Villeneuve of the Utica College cross country team was named College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.
 
Villeneuve led the Pioneers in the 6K race, as she came in 35th place out of 198 runners at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College on Saturday. Villeneuve posted a time of 23:36, which was just 1:43 slower than the first place runner.
 
Villeneuve helped Utica to a 10th place finish out of 17 teams. The women registered a score of 311, with an average team time of 24:59.
 
Villeneuve’s 35th place finish marks the second straight race she has finished in the top 35. She finished 19th overall out of 277 racers in the Saratoga Invitational two weeks ago, as she recorded a time of 18:47.9.
 
UC returns to the course on Saturday when it travels to Geneseo, NY for the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo.  The women's race is set for 11 a.m. with the men to follow at 12 p.m. The races will be held at Letchworth State Park.
