UTICA, NY – Freshman Jordan Smith (Tolland, CT/Tolland High School) of the Utica College men’s track and field team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his performance over the weekend.

Smith won the javelin and shattered the school-record by close to five meters as he posted a throw of 56.00 meters at the Alvernia Crusader Invitational on Saturday.  His personal best and new school-record toss currently ranks 22nd nationally on the NCAA Division III National Outdoor qualifying list.  Smith has posted back-to-back victories in the javelin to open the outdoor season, as he also won the Pioneers' first outdoor meet of the season at Hamilton.

The Pioneers will travel to Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for a two day meet scheduled to start on Friday. The start of the meet has yet to be announced.
