Miga Court at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium

The Harold T. Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium on Utica's campus is home to the men's and women's basketball teams, the volleyball program and the Wellness and Adventure Education program. The gymnasium features three full-length courts, a seating capacity of 2,200, a state of the art video scorers table, new bleachers, a high ropes course and a zip line.

On Thursday evening, November 29 Utica dedicated the court to Doris Wester and Walter E. Miga. The University honored the lives of two of its greatest supporters, Walter and Doris Miga, who passed away in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Professor Doris Miga began teaching at Utica in January of 1963.  She was a Professor Emerita of Sociology at Utica for 47 years.  In 2010, she was inducted into the Pioneer Hall of Fame for her dedication to the University, the basketball programs and the intramural basketball league. She was also a member of the Board of Trustees and was the recipient of several honors recognizing her teaching.

Even though Walter was not an employee of Utica, he was always a presence at events and he was the president of the booster club for many years.  Walter and Doris Miga were very loyal supporters, attending home basketball games together for over 45 years.

The Miga's sons, Wesley and Wester, wanted to give back to Utica in a way that would honor their parents' legacy. They made a donation in memory of their parents, which contributed to several major upgrades to the gymnasium including renovated bleachers.

With the renovated court, a 24 foot video scorers tables, and new bleachers, the Clark Gymnasium and "Miga Court" provide one of the top facilities in the Northeast
