Utica University Nexus Center
Located in downtown Utica, conveniently accessible from the New York State Thruway, the Utica University Nexus Center is home to the Utica University women’s hockey team. Opened in November 2022, the 169,440-square-foot facility serves as a destination for hockey and other sporting events, combining versatile playing surfaces with amenities for athletes and spectators.
The Nexus Center features three multipurpose playing surfaces, each measuring 200 feet by 85 feet. Each surface can be configured independently for ice or turf, allowing the facility to accommodate a variety of sports and tournaments. An enclosed walkway connects the Nexus Center to NBT Bank Arena at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, providing access to a fourth playing surface for hockey events.
The facility’s 1,200-seat Mastrovito Hyundai rink serves as the home ice for the Pioneers and the Utica Jr. Comets’ junior teams. Several luxury boxes overlook the ice, offering additional viewing options for spectators.
In 2025, the Nexus Center hosted the national semifinals and championship game of the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. The event marked Utica University’s second time hosting the championship, following the 2017 tournament at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, and the first time the national championship was held at the Nexus Center.
