ABM Field at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium
Located on the northern edge of Utica University’s campus between the Clark Athletic Center and the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center, ABM Field at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium serves as a multipurpose venue for Pioneer athletics. The stadium has hosted Utica’s football, field hockey, soccer and lacrosse programs, along with intramural activities, recreational events and camps.
Construction began in fall 2001, and the stadium was formally dedicated in fall 2002. The facility bears the name of Charles A. Gaetano, a Pioneer Hall of Famer, prominent local business leader and emeritus director of the Utica University Foundation.
The stadium features grandstand seating for 1,200 spectators, a brick façade and gateway entrance, press facilities and a synthetic turf playing surface. The Adirondack Bank Video Board, installed in summer 2014, added a large display with full video capabilities to enhance the game-day experience.
In 2024, Utica University and ABM Industries established a multiyear naming rights partnership, introducing ABM Field at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. ABM’s investment funded the installation of a new synthetic turf surface in July 2024, updating the field that had previously been resurfaced in 2013.
Connie Gaetano Plaza, named in fall 2012, connects the stadium with the neighboring athletic fields. Improvements accompanying the plaza’s naming included restroom facilities and fencing to enclose the space, providing additional amenities for spectators and campus visitors.
