Adirondack Bank Center

10311

Located in downtown Utica, just five miles from campus, the Adirondack Bank Center, or "the Aud" as it is affectionately known. is a state of the art hockey facility with a seating capacity for 3,999 fans. The University built its own annex containing locker rooms, storage, and a training room when the program began back in 2001.

The Utica University men's hockey team has led all of Division III men's hockey in home attendance every year since the 2006-07 season.  US College Hockey On-line calls the Utica Auditorium one of the top rinks in Division III.

Utica University and the Utica Memorial Auditorium were selected to host the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Hockey Championships.  The honor marked the first time in school-history that Utica hosted an NCAA Championship. Championship weekend consists of the final four teams in the NCAA Division III Men's Hockey Tournament.  The Utica men's hockey team participated in championship weekend in Lake Placid, NY in 2013 after earning a first round bye and defeating Bowdoin in the second round to earn a spot in the NCAA's final four.

In 2013, the Aud became home to the American Hockey League's Utica Comets. Since the arrival of the Comets, the Auditorium has experienced a variety of renovations, including the addition of two high definition video boards, all new scoreboards, a new sound system, a weight room facility and a video room.  The concessions have been renovated, a team shop was added, the banquet facilities were enhanced, the ticket entrances were remodeled and an Irish Pub was built in the lower concourse.

In 2011, The Utica Memorial Auditorium was designated as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in recognition of its innovative cable suspended roof. The Aud is the world's first pre-stressed dual cable roof system. Architect Lev Zetlin's design used struts between the cables and was the predecessor to the many modern dome designs that we see today, including Madison Square Garden.
