PIONEERS LOSE TO TIGERS IN MEN'S TENNIS

The Utica College men's tennis team lost to LeMoyne College Tuesday 9-0 in a non-conference match. The Pioneers are now 0-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Dolphins improve to 8-9 overall and 7-3 in their conference.

In the first singles match, freshmen Josh Turner lost in a tie breaker to LeMoynes' number one Daniel Sullivan. After losing the first set 6-2, Turner came back to take the next set 6-2, however lost the third set 6-0. Freshmen Thien Doan was defeated in two close sets 6-3 and 6-2.

In doubles competition, Josh Turner and freshmen Albert Phalen lost 8-3 to Daniel Sullivan and Brian Rice in the first match. In the third match, senior Josh Wright and freshmen Dylan Dougherty played a tough match losing 8-4 to Michael Green and Joseph Persia.

The Pioneers are back in action Friday as they host conference rival RIT at the Utica College Tennis Courts. The Tigers have an overall record of 3-4 and 1-1 in the Empire 8. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm
