UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's tennis team begins its final regular season week of the season with three matches. The team begins by hosting Medaille on Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m. before hitting the road to face St. John Fisher on Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m. and then head to face Nazareth on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: On Saturday, April 15 the team fell to Houghton 9-0 in an Empire 8 showdown.

Ace: Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) has been terrific this season and sports a 2-2 singles record against the opposing team's aces. Bruce already has one Empire 8 Player of the Week under his belt and Bruce and
Richard Nguyen (Utica, NY/Proctor) sport a 3-2 record in doubles while facing the opposition's top two opponents.Â

Pairs: The duo of
Bradley Litz (West Winfield, NY/Mt. Markham) and
Hunter Sanford (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) have been a solid duo pair with a 4-3 record. The pair also had a few matches in which they won by multiple games. The pair looks to keep their momentum going into the final weekend of Empire 8 play and help Utica battle for an Empire 8 Tournament berth.

Scouting Medaille: The Mavericks are 2-3 this season after beating Alfred University 5-4 on Tuesday, April 11 5-4 which has them fourth in the conference. Rodrigo Fernandez and Celso Juberias led the way against Alfred winning their duos match. Ben Tubbs and Sean Graham had impressive wins in singles allowing just three games to each of their opponents in the two sets. The Mavericks look to keep their momentum rolling after its Empire 8 win.

Looking at Fisher: The Cardinals are 4-6 this season and sport a 4-3 conference record which has them third in the conference. The team is led by the duos of Ryan Wilson/Sean Danahy and Zach DeCaro/Mason Shute who both had impressive 8-2 victories against Alfred earlier this season. In singles, Sean Danahy, Anthony Molosag, Will Chubb, Nick Licciarddello, Ryan Wilson, and Zach DeCaro all won their matches by at least two games.

Nazareth Preview: The Golden Flyers are 7-4 this season and sport a 5-2 Empire 8 record which has them second in the conference. The team topped Alfred 9-0 in its most recent outing on Saturday, April 15. Nathan Allen leads the way with an 8-2 overall record including 5-1 conference record. The duo of Nathan Allen and Chris Benedict has been dominant with a 5-2 duos record while Isiah McMurray and Dominic Vito sport a 4-1 record as a pair.

Up Next: If qualified, the team will head to the Empire 8 Conference Tournament beginning on Friday, April 28 at the top seed with the time to be determined.Â
