Alyssa Upson (Frankfort, NY/Whitesboro) netted two goals in a span of 3:31 in the second half to spark the Utica College women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over cross-town rival SUNYIT Wednesday afternoon.
Chelsea Way (Cuyler, NY/DeRuyter) and
Cheyenne Chrzanowski (Lee Center, NY/Rome Free Academy) each added one goal apiece to pace the Pioneers. Way and

With the win the Pioneers snapped a two game skid, while SUNYIT blemished a perfect record and fell to 2-1 overall. Headed into the contest UC had shut out SUNYIT in five of its last seven meetings and the Pioneers have now outscored the Wildcats 37-4 dating back to 2002.
Chrzanowski got things going early on when she netted her first goal of the season off a corner kick at the 11:43 marker of the first half. Both teams were held scoreless in the final 33 minutes of the first half and UC carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Upson got UC going again in the 54th minute when she headed home her first goal as a Pioneer off a corner kick from classmate
Chelsea Way (Cuyler, NY/DeRuyter). Upson gave UC a 3-1 lead off an assist from Munyon 3:31 later to put the game out of reach.
Way added her second and third points of the night early in the 67th minute, unassisted, to give Utica a commanding 4-0 lead.
SUNYIT's Jamie Elderbroom netted a goal in the 79th minute to close out the scoring on the day.
Jocelyn Rivera (Yonkers, NY /Gorton) made one save in between the pipes to earn her first collegiate victory for the Pioneers.
Utica returns to action Saturday when it travels to Clinton, N.Y. to take on Hamilton College in non conference play. The contest is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
