Elmira N.Y. (09/13/10)-The Utica College volleyball team lost all four games in the Elmira Tournament this past weekend. Sophmore Alicia Andrianos (Memphis, NY/Jordan Elbridge) led the way for Utica with 12 kills over the course of four games. Chelsie Petras (Ilion, NY /Dolgeville) totaled 25 assists while Heather Jackson (Weare, NH/John Stark Regional) added 11 kills and five service aces.

In the first game on Sept. 10, the Pioneers fell to Hilbert three sets to one. (25-15,26-24,17-25,25-10) Aundrea Dorie (Mount Markham, NY /Mount Markham) and Andrianos led the Pioneers with five kills each. Heather Jackson (Weare, NH/John Stark Regional) and Chelsie Petras (Ilion, NY /Dolgeville) had three kills apiece.

In the second game of the tournament, UC lost to Empire 8 rival Hartwick College by the same score of three sets to one (25-15,25-9,22-25,25-8.) Andrianos once again led the Pioneers providing seven kills on the attack.

The Pioneers would get swept in their next game against Houghton, losing three sets to none (25-9,25-11,25-12). Audrey Cross helped out with three kills and Sarah Smola (Mohawk, NY /Mohawk) provided an assist.


In the fourth and final game of the tournament, the Pioneers would once again be swept but this time to host Elmira (25-3,25-10,25-13). Utica as a team had three blocks while Elmira had none.

The next contest for the Pioneers will be on Sept. 17th, as Utica will participate in the Union Tournament. The starting time of the game is to be announced.
