WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS SEASON OPENER AGAINST DELAWARE VALLEY

Oneonta, N.Y. (9/4/2010) - The Utica College women's soccer team held Delaware Valley scoreless for the first 63 minutes of the contest, but the Aggies mustered two goals in a span of seven minutes, to earn a 2-0 victory at the Hartwick College Tournament Saturday. The Pioneers out shot the Aggies 8-7 and earned a 5-3 corner kick advantage in the loss. Freshman Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) rifled off a game-high four shots to pace Utica.

The Pioneers (0-1) return to action Sunday when they square off against Marywood University at 1 p.m. in the final game of the Hartwick Tournament.

UC freshman goalie Jocelyn Rivera (Yonkers, NY /Gorton) made two saves in her first collegiate start. Senior Cheyenne Chrzanowski (Lee Center, NY/Rome Free Academy) totaled two shots, while classmate Amber Comeau (Medford, MA/Arlington Catholic) and junior Chelsea Way (Cuyler, NY/DeRuyter) each added one shot.
