Utica, NY (6-20-11) – Utica College athletics will be teaming up with ESPN Radio and My Hometown Sports for comprehensive radio coverage of Utica College athletics beginning in September. ESPN Radio is broadcast out of Utica on 1310 WTLB, Rome on 1350 WRNY, and Little Falls on 1230 WIXT.
“We are excited to partner with ESPN Radio and My Hometown Sports,” said Utica College Athletic Director
Jim Spartano. “We feel that this will be a great fit for our athletic programs and we look forward to another great year of local radio coverage beginning in the Fall.”
My Hometown Sports, which includes the broadcast team of Fred Miller, Dave Peroni and Gene Conte, will be the production company that provides radio broadcast coverage of Utica College sports to ESPN radio. Coverage of UC athletics will begin on September 3, when the football team travels to St. Lawrence for its season opener. With the College's new affiliation with ESPN Radio, UC spring sports such as lacrosse, baseball, and softball will likely be broadcast for the first time, alongside football, basketball, and hockey.
"My Hometown Sports is proud to continue its relationship with Utica College and is excited to have reached an agreement with the school to become the production company to provide radio broadcasts of Utica College athletics,” said color analyst Fred Miller, who is the owner of My Hometown Sports. “We have formed a strong relationship with Utica College over the past few years and have become part of the sports family. With this new agreement fans will be able to continue to follow the Pioneers all year long with My Hometown Sports and ESPN Radio Utica/Rome."
Utica College sports were previously broadcast on WIBX, but with My Hometown Sports' recent affiliation with Galaxy Communications, Utica College athletics will now be making the switch over to ESPN Radio.
"With our new radio affiliation with Galaxy Communications and ESPN Radio Utica/Rome we are thrilled to be able to say that Utica College fans will be able to follow their favorite Utica College teams on a network that has such a strong brand like ESPN,” said Miller. “Utica College sports is an important member of the My Hometown Sports family and will also be a key member of the Galaxy family as well."
