Saratoga Springs, NY (3/11/15)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team gave up five unanswered goals as it fell to host Skidmore College, 10-7, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

UC moves to 1-2 on the season, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 3-1. The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host SUNY Potsdam. Game time s scheduled for 12 p.m.

The first half was a low-scoring affair as the teams combined for just three goals in the first 30 minutes of action. Utica held a 2-1 lead at halftime, however Skidmore outscored the Pioneers 9-5 in the second stanza to pick up the victory.

Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) led the way for Utica with three goals and added three ground balls and a team-best three draw controls, while her sister
Patricia Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) netted one goal and scooped up a team-high five ground balls. Junior
Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) and sophomore
Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) had one goal apiece and freshman
Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) netted her first collegiate goal to pace the Pioneers. Senior
Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) also kept her scoring streak alive as she dished out two assists on the day.Â

Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) made eight stops in net for Utica, while her counterpart, Megan Kolopsky made 11 saves in the win. Â
