Utica, NY (3/14/15)- The Utica College women's lacrosse team did not allow a goal in the second half as it downed visiting SUNY Potsdam 10-6 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Utica moves to 2-2 on the year. The Pioneers return to action next Saturday as they travel to Reading, PA to face Albright College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
UC went down 4-2 in the first 15 minutes of the game, however the Pioneers rallied to score eight of the game's next ten goals to capture their second victory of the season.
Four Pioneers scored two goals each, led by senior
Megan Kane (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville), who finished with a team-high three points on the day. Junior
Courtney Wheeler (Ava, NY/Rome Free Academy) and sophomore
Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) and
Rebecca Plunkett (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) also had two goals apiece. Senior
Morgan DuPont (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) extended her scoring streak to four games, while freshman
Brooke Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) netted her second goal in as many games.
Juniors
Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) and
Erin Jacobson (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) combined for eight saves in goal, as Casey moved her record to 2-2 on the season. Devan Olschewske stopped seven saves in net for Potsdam as the Bears dropped to 1-4 on the season.
