Paul Litvak (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) picked up his first win of the season in first singles, but it was not enough as the Utica College men's tennis team fell to host Sage, 7-2, in Empire 8 Conference action Tuesday afternoon.

The Pioneers wrap up league play on Saturday as they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Pioneers will wrap up their 2018 campaign on Sunday as they host SUNY Delhi (12 p.m.).

Litvak took a 3-0 lead in the first set before his opponent, Henry Golden, was forced to retire, giving Litvak the win. Â
Joshua Palmer (Southington, CT/Wilcox Technical) and Alfonso Whitehurst also earned a point for the Pioneers as they came away with a win in third doubles (8-4).Â

Palmer almost came away with a win in fifth singles as he took the first set 6-3, before his opponent, Mitesh Joshi won the second set 6-1 and took the tiebreaker 10-8.
