Utica, NY – The Utica College women's tennis team hosted Sage for an Empire 8 matchup on Tuesday. UC's record moves to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play after losing, 8-1.
 
In the first singles match, Julianne Pieros (Alpha, NJ/Phillipsburg) won her first match point of the season, defeating Sage's Abbey Clobridge 6-2, 7-6.
 
Pieros and doubles partner Madeline McIlnay (York, PA/York Suburban) put up a fight in the first flight of duos, but lost the matchup 8-5. In other doubles play Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers) and Christa Pham (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) came up short in the second slot, 8-4.
 
The Gators improved to 4-1 overall on the year and 2-1 against E8 opponents.
 
The Pioneers are back in action on Saturday, as they travel to face Nazareth College. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
