UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's tennis team came away with a 8-1 win over visiting Hartwick College in the first round of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Tuesday evening.
 
The Pioneers (5-2) will now travel to St. John Fisher College on Thursday for the semifinals.  The Pioneers have never advanced to the semifinals of the E8 Tournament. 
 
Utica picked up wins in every event except for first doubles.  Freshman Ellen Collie (Harbor Springs, MI) remained undefeated in singles play as she picked up a 6-1, 6-0 in second singles. Ellen Lyga (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame) wo her match up in first singles by the score of 6-1, 6-1.
 
Morgan Willis (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers) each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in their singles matches.  Haley Dekin (Castorland, NY) also won her singles match by a scored of 6-0, 6-0.  Willis and Bockhaus also earned a big win in second singles coming away with an 8-0 win.
