Utica, NY - The Utica College men's tennis team defended its home court on Thursday as the team defeated SUNY Delhi 7-2 for its first win of the season.
Delhi took the first two singles matches before Makai Medici won the third 6-1, 6-0. Brad Litz followed Medici with a 6-4, 6-0 win of his own in the fourth singles. Josh Palmer won the fifth singles 6-2, 6-1 before Joe Shirley (Sackets Harbor, NY/Sackets Harbor) wrapped up the singles matches by winning 6-2, 6-2.
The Pioneers dominated doubles matches as the team took all three. The duo of Louis Nuzzo and Austin McGrain (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford) won their doubles match 8-5 while both groups of Ethan Tremblay/Medici and Palmer/Litz won their doubles matches 8-2.
UC (1-4) returns to the court tomorrow as they host Houghton College. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
