Utica, NY - The Utica College women's tennis team defeated Medaille College 6-3 
 
Medaille claimed an early 2-1 lead by taking two out of three doubles matches. The lone Utica win came from the duo of Ellen Lyga (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame) and Morgan Willis (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), who won the first doubles 8-5. 
 
In singles play, the Pioneers took control by taking five out of six matches. Lyga claimed the first singles 6-3, 6-2 while Morgan Willis (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) won the second singles 6-2, 6-2. Bianca Bockhaus (Shenorock, NY/Somers), Victoria Vo () and Haley Dekin (Castorland, NY) also won each of their single sets to help lift the Pioneers over the Mavericks. 
 
UC (2-1) is back in action tomorrow when St. John Fisher comes to town for a 1 p.m. start.
