UTICA, NY- The Utica University men's tennis team fell to visiting St. John Fisher College 5-4 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday.
 
Utica picked up wins in first singles, second singles, and third singles, and first doubles, but the Cardinals were able to narrowly defeat the Pioneers thanks to wins in fourth singles, fifth singles, sixth singles, and a pair of doubles wins.
 
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) continued his impressive season as he helped pick up two points for Utica.  Bruce defeated Sean Danahy in first singles 6-1, 7-6.  Bruce then teamed up with Austin McGrain (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon ) to defeat Anthony Molosag and Jordan O'Connell in first doubles by a score of 8-1.
 
McGrain won his match in No. 3 singles as he rebounded after losing the first set to defeat Kyle Gorman 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.  LJ Nuzzo (Peru, NY/Peru Central) defeated Molosag in No. 2 singles 6-1, 7-6. 
 
The Pioneers wrap up the regular season on Sunday as they host Nazareth College.  Game time is 1 p.m.
