UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season in convincing fashion beating SUNY Delhi 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Utica dominated with six players earning victories including
Logan Kraft (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford),
Richard Nguyen (Utica, NY/Proctor), and
Jack Paute (Utica, NY/Proctor) earning their first wins in their Pioneer career.
Damian Bruce (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) topped SUNY Delhi's ace 6-1 and 6-0 while
Jack Paute (Utica, NY/Proctor) and
Logan Kraft (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) picked up 6-0 and 6-0 individual wins.
Hunter Sanford (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and
Richard Nguyen (Utica, NY/Proctor) each won their singles match 6-1 and 6-3 while
Gaynay Doo (Utica, NY/Proctor) won his match 6-2 and 6-1.
In doubles Bruce and Nguyen took care of business with an 8-2 win. The duo of Doo and Paute won their doubles match 8-1 and Sanford and Litz won their match 8-0.
Utica (1-5, 0-4) looks to keep its momentum going as the team travels to face Alfred University on Friday, April 7 at 1 p.m.
