WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Utica University men's track and field team completed day one at the Farley Inter-Regional at Williams College on Friday, May 10.
Two school records fell on the evening in two different event groups. In the javelin throw,
Justin Swavely (Rome, NY/RFA) not only broke his own school record but set a new Empire 8 conference record as well. His toss of 63.59m also gave him first place at the meet. The other school record taken down was by
Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville). His time of 14:59.94 is now the new school record, beating his previous school record time of 15:06.25.
Anthony Leotta (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollows Hills West) ran a personal best time in the 3000m steeplechase of 9:49.65 to place 11th. This time is now the sixth best 3000m steeplechase time in program history. In the 10000m run,
Zachary Brown (Milford, NY/Milford Central) ran a 33:06.47 to place tenth.
The team will continue the Farley Inter-Regional tomorrow, May 11 beginning at 10 a.m. in Williamstown, MA.
