Men's Indoor Track & Field Has Huge Outing at Utica Winter Opener

UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's indoor track & field team wrapped up competition at the Utica Winter Opener on Friday evening.
 
The 4x200m relay of Ellis Urgent (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central), Ethan Kain (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), Andy Hadasz (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) broke a 2018 school record with their 1:30.21 mark. The mark was first set by Alex Luckoo, Kevin Gangemi, Brenden Moore and Ka'Sean Washington.
 
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) placed first in shot put with his 16.11m throw. His mark sits in the top five currently in NCAA DIII. Out of seven events Logan competed in last indoor season, he placed first six out of seven times. Michael McNeil (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) placed fourth with a 13.24m throw, followed by Billie Mays III (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) in fifth (12.98m) and Mike Rollins (Port Henry, NY/Moriah) in seventh (12.57m). 
 
Kaiden McCaskill (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) took first place in the high jump with his 1.92m leap. This is McCaskill's second meet this season, where he recorded a 1.92m in the high jump. Mason Renfrew (Phoenix, NY/Phoenix) tied for third with a 1.75m jump. This was his first time competing in the high jump this season. 
 
Urgent had himself a dominant evening competing in the long jump, 4x200m and the 400m. In the long jump, his 6.71m jump earned him third place. He also took third overall in the 400m, running a 50.23 and moving into seventh all-time in program history. 
 
Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) and Urgent went 2-3 in the 400m. Warren placed second with a 50.16 mark and Urgent placed third, running a 50.23. Both Warren and Urgent qualified for the AARTFC after their top finishes. 
 
Cade Tavares (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) scored a 9.04 in the 60m hurdle to secure him ninth overall in program history. 
 
Anthony Leotta (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollows Hills West) finished fourth in the 1000m (2:43.36). All three runners in front of Leotta who placed 1-2-3 are from NCAA DI Siena.
 
Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel) finished the 500m in fifth, completing the race in 1:09.35.
 
Utica travels to St. Lawrence University on Saturday, January 25, for an 11 a.m. start time.
