ROCHESTER NY - John Gutt (Middletown, NJ) of the Utica University men's hockey team has been named Empire 8 and UCHC Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the leagues on Monday.

Gutt showed out during the Pioneers' first UCHC double this past weekend versus Brockport, grabbing points in both games while also aiding in the orange and blue faceoff effort as the team swept its first conference opponent of the season. The senior center had two goals and two assists during the series, while also taking 13 of his 22 total faceoff opportunities for a 59.1% faceoff win rate. His dominance on the draw helped the team compile a 65.2% faceoff win rate for the weekend. In the second game, Gutt broke through, scoring twice and assisting once in a 5-2 win to cap off the weekend sweep. 

Gutt and the Pioneers return to the ice on Friday, November 21st as the team travels to take on Manhattanville University in the first game of a pair of road matchups. Opening faceoff from Purchase, NY is set for 7:00 PM.
