UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's indoor track & field totaled five first-place finishes in five different events at the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational hosted by Utica on Saturday.
Weight throw saw three athletes place 1-2-3.
Joshua Talbot's (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) 17.42m throw is now second all-time in indoor.
Spencer Borghardt (Melville, NY/St.Anthony's) took second place with a 16.91m throw, followed by
Blake Gannon's (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) 15.77m toss for fifth all-time in the event.
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) also competed, placing 10th (13.11m)
Ellis Urgent (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central) took first place in long jump with a 7.10m leap. He is now second all-time in program history and currently ranks No. 23 in NCAA DIII.
Patrick Wands (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) placed ninth (6.27m) and Kendron Golden 10th (6.25m).
Shane Tinney (Whitesboro, NY/Oriskany) collected himself a personal best in the 60m with a 7.23 sprint.
Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) scored a first-place finish in the 300m with a 35.45 sprint.
Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville) won the mile in 4:19.05 while also qualifying for the AARTFC.
Forest Martin (Poland, NY/Poland Central) took ninth and ran a 4:31.66.
Timothy Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) placed 14th (4:39.36) and
Anthony Leotta (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollows Hills West) 18th (4:41.52).
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) placed first in shot put with a 15.84m throw. He's now placed first in three out of five indoor events this season.
Michael McNeil (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) placed fourth (13.36m),
Mike Rollins (Port Henry, NY/Moriah) placed seventh (12.53),
Eddie Haeffer (Sound Beach, NY/Miller Place) placed 11th (12.09m).
Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel) ran a 22.45 in the 200m, placing third all-time and qualifying for the AARTFC. Urgent competed in the 200m as well and took eighth all-time running a 22.74.
Justin Couture (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) placed second in the triple jump, marking a 13.05m leap.
Tyshawn Taylor (Syracuse, NY/Institute of Technology) and
Cade Tavares (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) had awesome finishes in the 60m hurdles, both setting personal records and all-time bests. Taylor placed fourth with an 8.77 spring followed by Tavares's fifth-place finish (8.85). Taylor's run earned him eight all-time in program history.
Jack Rathburn (Clarendon Hills, IL/Westmont) collected a fourth-place finish in pole vault (4.16m). He is now eighth all-time with that jump.
Theodore Tsamis (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) placed ninth (3.71m).
The men's distance medley team of Melita,
Tristan Vargo (East Aurora, NY/Orchard Park),
Eddy Corporan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C Ketcham) and
Timothy Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) took second with an 11:13.73.
Tobias Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) took eighth place and eighth all-time in the 3000m (9:07.21) and
Zachary Brown (Milford, NY/Milford Central) placed 11th (9:16.7).
The Pioneers host the Empire 8 Indoor Championships on February 28 and March 1. Friday's events will start at 3 p.m. followed by Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
