Men's Outdoor Track and Field Opens 2025 Campaign at Home

UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's outdoor track and field team will begin their outdoor track and field season at Laura M. Casamento Field on Sunday, March 30 as they host the Utica Almost Spring Invite.

Outdoor Schedule Breakdown: Next weekend, the Pioneers will be visiting Hamilton College for their Continental Outdoor Invitational. On April 11 and April 12, Utica will be hosting the Spring Invitational. Javelin will be starting the invitational at 3 pm on Friday and Saturdays meet will begin at 10 am.The following weekend, on April 18, the Pioneers will be travelling to Cortland for the Cortland Classic. On April 25, Utica will be on the road again as they go to Rochester for the RPI Capital District Classic. The weekend of May 2 and May 3, the team will be heading back out to Rochester for the Empire 8 Outdoor Championship which will be hosted by Brockport. The Pioneers will be going to Williamstown, MA from May 9 to May 15 for the FIRE Meet at Williams College as well as the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championship. May 22 will mark the start of the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships at SPIRE.
 
Runnin' Runnin':  Senior Andy Hadasz (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) will be one to watch as in last year's outdoor season he performed well, recording Utica's best 60 meter run with a time of 7.08. He also had a notable 200 meter run with a time of 22.27. Junior Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel) also had a successful 2024 season and will be expected to perform once again. He recorded a 22.45 200 meter run as well as an impressive 400 meter run with a time of 49.73. Sophomore Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville) will be back for another year, coming off of a memorable 2024 season. Melita led the Pioneers in long distance running, registering the best times for the mile, the 3,000 meter, and the 5,000 meter run. 
 
Field Stars: Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) will be back for another year of record breaking as he will be participating in shot put for one last season. In the 2024 season he recorded the best throw for the Pioneers with an impressive 16.83m toss. Newcomer Ellis Urgent (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central) will be making his outdoor debut, but after an impressive indoor season, he is expected to be a top performer for Utica's outdoor roster. Urgent is the Pioneers leading long jumper with a personal best of 7.10m. Junior Spencer Borghardt (Melville, NY/St.Anthony's) will be competing in the weight throw event for another season. He is expected to be a key performer for the Pioneers once again as he registered a 17.35m throw in the 2025 indoor season.
