UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's track and field team will be heading to Cortland this weekend on Friday April 18 and April 19, to take part in the Cortland Classic. The meet will begin at 3:00 pm with the decathlon 100m run.

Event Schedule: The event will begin with the decathlon 100m at 3:00 pm on Friday. This will be followed by long jump, high jump, shot put, and the 400m run. At 4:15, the 3000m steeplechase will take place, followed by the 100m trials and the 1500m. The 110HH trials will start at 6:30 pm and at 6:50 pm 5000m run will take place. The 4x400m relay will be at 7:40 pm, and the last men's event on Friday will be the 10,000m at 8:20 pm. Saturday's meet will start with decathlon 100HH along with the heptathlon long jump at 9:00 am. High jump will take place at 11:00 am along with the 4x100m relay. The 800m run will start at 11:30 am while the 110HH final will begin at 12:10 pm. The 400m run will take place at 12:30 pm. The 100m final will begin at 1:10 pm followed by 400IH at 1:20 pm. The men's meet will end with the 200m run at 2:00 pm and the 4x800m relay at 2:40 pm.
Record Breaker: Spencer Borghardt (Melville, NY/St.Anthony's) has taken over the school record in the hammer throw, after a 53.60m toss last weekend.
Last Week's Top Performers: Joshua Talbot placed third (53.60m) in hammer throw and
Blake Gannon marked a fifth-place finish (50.25m). Gannon's throw was fifth all-time in program history.
Bennett Melita won the 1500m, completing the race in 4:07.75.
Ellis Urgent and
Kedron Golden went 1-2 in the long jump. Urgent placed first and is now third all-time with a 6.89m jump followed by Golden's second place 6.39m jump.
Jack Rathburn won the pole vault with a 4.30m vault which also puts him fourth all-time in program history. He has now won seven pole vault events in three seasons.
Cade Tavares is now seventh all-time in the 110m hurdles after placing second with a 15.62.
Cleaned Up: The Pioneers grabbed several team season best marks last time out.
Chris Ganley (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) holds the fastest spot in the 100m with a time of 11.12. In the 800m, Eddy Corpran now holds the top spot in the event with a time of 2:00.88.
Kaiden McCaskill (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) holds the team lead in the high jump after clearing 1.89m.
Justin Couture (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) holds the team's top mark in the triple jump after a 12.84m mark.
Tobias Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) now holds the team's top mark in the javelin with a 46.17m throw.
Couture: Justin Couture (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) was entered in the Merrimack College Alumni Classic earlier this week, where his family was be in the crowd as he competed alongside his brother Cory Couture on his senior day. Couture placed seventh in the long jump, with a 5.80m, and fourth in the triple jump with a 12.45m jump.
Next Up: On Friday April 25, the team will be heading to Troy, New York where they will be competing in the RPI Capital District Classic, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The time for this meet is to be determined.
