Track Qualifiers: The Pioneer men have had 18 different athletes enter for 10Â different events at the upcoming AARTFC Championships.
Â
On the track,
Cade Tavares (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) will be testing his speed and agility, entering into the 110m hurdles after qualifying with a time of 15.62.

Eddy Corporan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C Ketcham),
Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda Fultonville), and
Tobias Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) also sealed entry in a variety of different long-distance events. In addition, long-distance leader Melita gained entry to the 3000m steeplechase (9:08.30, Hamilton Invitational).

Â
Field Qualifiers: The Empire 8 Championships were an excellent week for the Pioneers when it came to qualification for the AARTFC Championships, as four field athletes gained their top marks at the conference's climactic event.
Â
Louis Pinto (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and
Ellis Urgent (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall Central) gained qualification to the high jump and long jump, respectively, doing so in Empire 8 Championship fashion, with both athletes taking home the conference gold in each event. Pinto qualified for the high jump with his Empire 8-best mark of 1.96m. Urgent did so in similar fashion, gaining entry to the long jump with a championship leap of 7.24m.
Â
A trio of Pioneers will participate in the hammer throw, with Josh Talbot,
Spencer Borghardt (Melville, NY/St.Anthony's), and
Blake Gannon (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) all achieving entry to the hammer ranks. Borghardt and Gannon gained qualification at the Empire 8 Championships with tosses of 56.17m and 54.17m, respectively. While Talbot earned his spot at the earlier Cortland Classic with a throw of 57.49m.
Â
Hunter Logan (Fort Plain, NY/Herkimer College) will look to achieve his third AARTFC Shot Put Championship this week, attempting to accrue the most amount of hardware possible before wrapping up his illustrious Pioneer career. The stellar strongman gained entry thanks to a 16.3m toss at the RPI Capital District Classic, but also took home the Empire 8 Championship a few weekends later to achieve the career sweep in the conference's indoor and outdoor iterations of the event.
Â
Finally,
Theodore Tsamis (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) gained a spot in the decathlon thanks to his 5156-point outing at the Cortland Classic. The all-around athlete will kick off the week at 12:00 PM tomorrow with the decathlon 100m. His sprint will start a big week full of chances for individual and team accolades during the two-day event at Williams. The event is earlier this week most likely due to graduation upcoming on the weekend for many participating institutions.
Â
After the AARTFC Outdoor Championships: All that will remain on the schedule after this week's event is the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The final meet of the season will begin on Thursday, May 22nd and run until Saturday, May 24th. The event will be held at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
