Men's Wrestling Heads to Lycoming for Weekend Invitational

After competing at the SUNYAC Championship this past weekend, the Utica Men's Wrestling team is back this coming weekend to compete in a high-profile event against eight other programs in Williamsport, PA. Check out our weekly preview to stay up-to-date with this weekend's action!

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Pioneers return to action this weekend as they travel to compete against eight other schools at the Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational in Williamsport, PA. In addition to the hosts, Lycoming College, there will also be wrestlers active from Keystone, King's College, Misericordia, Muhlenberg, Penn College, Pitt-Bradford, and Scranton. The meet will take place on Sunday, February 7th at 9:30 am in the Keiper Recreation Center.

Last Time Out - The Pioneers last competed at the SUNYAC Championships, hosted by SUNY Brockport inside the Special Events Recreation Center. Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) at 174 pounds had a strong performance, opening up his tournament day with a 15-4 major decision over RIT's Evan De Jong before moving on to his 6-1 win by fall at 1:57 against SUNY Cortland's Ryan Closterman. His day was soon halted by Ithaca's Konrad Parker and fell later in the consolation rounds to Brockport's Kiam Coleman. 

Nuallan King (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl Area High School) at 197 pounds picked up two wins. One against Brockport's Mason Suro by fall at 4:34 and another win by pinning Oneonta's Jason Gielorwski at 1:59 in the consolation rounds. King's day ended with a tech fall loss to Brockport's Luca Friedman.

Hunter Morton (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Hills) added two victories at 157 pounds during his consolation rounds. After an opening loss, Morton later responded with 11-2 major decision over Oneonta's Cameren Schrom and later won by an 8-1 decision against Elmira's Kaiden Ellis.

Additional wins came from Lukas Charles (Nyack, NY/Nyack) at 285, who won by 10-7 decision over Oneonta's Andrew Morris and pinned Elmira's Nick Lopez in 0:40, and Matt Bonato (Syracuse, NY/Liverpool), who earned a 15-0 tech fall against Brockport's Vernon Jinks at 7:00. 

Up Next: The Pioneers are back in action Saturday, February 7th, where they will travel to Lackawanna College to compete in a tri-meet against Jamestown Community College and the host, Lackawanna College. The meet will be held at the Student Union Gymnasium at 12:00 pm.
