BOSTON, MA - Utica University's men's track and field team delivered a series of all-time marks, personal records, and competitive performances this weekend while competing at the Boston University Terrier Invite and the Harvard Invitational. The Pioneers were highlighted by multiple performances that reshaped the program's all-time lists, led by
Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel), who ran 22.10 in the 200 meters to move into third place all-time in program history. Flynn also added a season-best 50.01 in the 400 meters, continuing a strong weekend across multiple sprint events.
Utica's middle-distance group made a major impact in Boston, beginning with
Forest Martin (Poland, NY/Poland Central), who clocked 1:58.25 in the 800 meters to climb to fifth all-time. In the mile, the Pioneers placed three runners inside the program's top six all-time list, led by
Anthony Leotta (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills West), who moved to fourth all-time with a 4:24.05 effort. He was followed closely by
Tobias Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) (4:25.25), now fifth all-time, and
Killian Bauer (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill), who posted 4:27.42 to move into sixth all-time.
On the sprint side,
Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) recorded a season-best 49.03 in the invitational section of the 400 meters, winning his heat against a deep national field.
Cameron Hoffis (Queensbury, NY/Lake George) added a personal-best 53.42 in the open 400, while several Pioneers gained valuable experience in the short sprints, including
Jack Holland (Broadalbin-Perth, NY/Broadalbin-Perth),
Wayne Spencer (Rochester, NY/Padilla (Franklin Campus)), and
Frank D'Angelo () in the 60-meter dash. In the hurdles,
Cade Tavares (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) continued a strong indoor campaign with a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.89.
The throws group produced another productive weekend, led by
Logan Hewitt (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy), who recorded a personal-best 14.29 meters in the shot put, finishing 12th in a field of 29 and narrowly missing the program's all-time top 10. In the weight throw,
Spencer Borghardt (Smithtown, NY/St.Anthony's) placed fifth overall with a mark of 17.58 meters, while
Joshua Talbot (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) followed in eighth at 17.09 meters.
Michael Christensen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) added a personal record of 14.80 meters, with
Blake Gannon (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) also competing in the event.
At the Harvard Invitational,
Aaron Johnson () tied his own indoor program record in the pole vault, clearing 4.45 meters to finish fourth overall, while
Matthew Martinez (Ilion, NY/Central Valley Academy) also competed in the event. Utica rounded out the weekend with distance efforts from
Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) in the 3,000 meters and
Eddy Corporan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C Ketcham) in the 500 meters as the Pioneers continue to build momentum midway through the indoor season.
The Pioneers return to action in a home meet next weekend. Across Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th, Utica will host the Blue & Orange Invite and Multi at the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center. Competition is set to begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, and 11:00 am on Saturday.
