UTICA, NY - The Pioneers returned to the Hutton Dome on Saturday, competing within the warm confines of their own indoor facility for the second weekend in a row for this year's Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational. During the meet, a couple of female competitors were out in full force, as
Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) continued her phenomenal feats of strength in the shot put, while
Shiann Williams (Bronx, NY/Hydel) showed out in her second-straight day of competition, logging a new school record to highlight the day's events.

Friday (Suppa & Williams)

Laura Suppa (Canastota, NY/Canastota) and
Shiann Williams (Bronx, NY/Hydel) would head out to Harvard University on Friday to compete against some of the best competition in the entire northeast at the Harvard Invitational.

Suppa would take her top talent in the 60m hurdles and look to rank highly amongst a field of primarily Division I athletes. During the prelims, Suppa ran an 8.75, narrowly missing qualification to the finals, placing ninth out of 28.

Williams would compete in two events: the 60m dash and the 200m. The first race saw Williams grab a time of 7.95. In the 200m, Williams would produce a powerful outing, placing 11th with a 25.62. That 200m time was also good for #5 on the program leaderboards.

Saturday's competition got off to a fast start with preliminary rounds of the women's 60m hurdles. In the opening heats,
Laura Suppa (Canastota, NY/Canastota) raced her way to a finals appearance, beating out all competitors with an 8.74. Junior speedster
Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) also punched her ticket to the climactic race, grabbing 5th in the prelims thanks to a 9.39. Both Pioneer runners would go on to place top four in the finals. Suppa wrapped up her third 60mh race of the weekend with a first-place time of 8.70, defeating the second-place runner by 0.35 seconds. Jensen also put together a solid run, notching a time of 9.37. Both runners logged AARTFC-qualifying times.

In the men's iteration of the event, underclassmen
Cade Tavares (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and
Kaleb Davis (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer Central) would reach the finals, logging times of 8.66 and 8.87, respectively. In the finals, Tavares would finish in fourth place with a time of 8.61, while
Kaleb Davis (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer Central) would grab sixth with an 8.88. Tavares' finals time would give him the #7 spot in the all-time indoor ranks for the 60mh.

Bennett Melita (Johnstown, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) would continue to dispel the competition in long-distance displays, dispatching a flurry of RPI contenders in the men's mile to capture first thanks to a time of 4:23.43.

Speedy sophomore Shiann Williams (Bronx, NY/Hydel) would blow away the competition in the 300m, embarking on a program-best performance as she broke the school record and facility record with a 40.33. Williams' time saw her run away with the top spot, defeating the next closest competitor by over two seconds.

In the mirroring event, the men's team would place three athletes inside the top 10, as
Frank D'Angelo () (3rd, 37.40),
Kyle Williams (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) (7th, 38.84), and
Nicholas Peccia (Lafayette, NJ/High Point Regional) (9th, 38.92) would all grab spots in the top half of the event.

Arianna McClendon (Rome, NY/New York Mills) and sophomore competitor
Lilly Messler (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) would go 1-2 in the 400m, as McClendon grabbed the top spot thanks to an AARTFC-qualifying time of 59.49, while Messler would take second with a time of 1:03.49.

Tanner Warren (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) continued his monopoly on short-distance events, taking first in the 400m thanks to a time of 48.89. He notched yet another AARTFC-qualifying time on Saturday to continue his stellar form. Freshman
Zechariah Bolos (Clinton, NY/Clinton) would also finish top-10, recording a time of 52.54 to place eighth.

Lacey Simmons (Vernon Center, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) led a pack of four Pioneers who finished in the top 10 of the Women's 600m. The rookie runner logged a time of 1:42.19 to finish in second place, also taking the #2 spot in the all-time Pioneer record books. Caroline Young (6th, 1:54.19),
Emma Charboneau (Fultonville, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) (7th, 1:57.36), and
Kamryn Williams (New York Mills, NY/New York Mills) (9th, 2:00.63) rounded out the top placers in the event.

The Men's 600m was equally impactful, as junior athlete
Forest Martin (Poland, NY/Poland Central) cemented a #2 all-time outing along with a first-place finish thanks to his time of 1:24.17. Freshman runner
Tyler Thorngren (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) also managed a program top-10 finish, taking fourth with a time of 1:27.16.
Joseph Santiago (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) would also finish in the top 10, taking 6th with a time of 1:28.99.

In the Women's 800m,
Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) continued to show out, hopping up to #2 all-time in the event with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 2:21.81. That final mark also saw her finish just outside the top 3, settling for a powerful fourth-place finish.

The Men's 1000m was full of Pioneer standouts, as three athletes managed a top-five finish during the run.
Anthony Leotta (Dix Hills, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) (2nd, 2:35.07),
Tobias Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) (3rd, 2:36.72), and
Timothy Jeralds (Canaan, NY/Chatham Central) (5th, 2:39.57) all took top slots. All three runners would finish in the top 10 in program history during the event, as Leotta took the #4 slot, Tobias took the #5 slot, and Timothy rounded it out with the #10 slot.

In the Men's 200m,
Nolan Flynn (Bethel, CT/Bethel) took sixth place, also qualifying for the AARTFC meet with a time of 22.33.

Killian Bauer (Verona, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill) would also notch an AARTFC appearance, finishing fifth place in the Men's 3000m with a time of 8:46.97. His time was also good for the #5 overall program mark.

After the Women's DMR team clinched an AARTFC qualification during the past few meets, it was now the mens' turn, as the quartet of Leotta, Thorngren, Martin, and Melita grabbed first place an an AARTFC-qualifying time of 10:38.00. The other team of

Aidan Ferguson (Utica, NY/Thomas R. Proctor),
Joseph Santiago (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam), and Ben Bellinger would finish in second place, posting a time of 11:24.93.

Spencer Borghardt (Smithtown, NY/St.Anthony's) and
Joshua Talbot (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) kept up their fierce competition in Saturday's Weight Throw, placing second and third, respectively, with tosses of 17.79 and 17.53. Borghardt's mark was good enough for #2 all-time in the Pioneer record books.

In the Women's Weight Throw,
Hailey Hrouda (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) and
Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) would place in fifth and sixth, respectively, with longs of 14.69 and 14.41.

The Women's Shot Put saw what was potentially the top Pioneer performance of the afternoon, with stellar sophomore Allie Cary (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) blowing away the competition thanks to a chuck of 14.19. Her mark was #2 all-time in program history, only falling beneath former national-level performer Jane Fahy. The 14.19 was no match for the competition, as the facility record was over 1.20 meters farther than the next closest throw.

In the Men's Long Jump,
Wayne Spencer (Rochester, NY/Padilla (Franklin Campus)) capitalized on the momentum he gained last weekend during the record-breaking 4x200m outing, leaping 6.84 meters to place third and obtain the #5 spot on the program's top 10 leaderboard.

The Women's Pole Vault saw two Pioneers place in the top five, with
Genna McCallum (Mora, MN/Indian River) and
Cassondra Wood (Canasota, NY/Canasota) tying for third with a top vault of 3.02. Wood's vault would see her jump up to the #6 mark on the program leaderboard.

Aaron Johnson (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) would continue to rank highly in the Men's Pole Vault, grabbing a top height of 4.53 to place third.

Kaiden McCaskill (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and
Louis Pinto (Clinton, NY/Clinton) would tie for the top spot in the Men's High Jump, as each athlete would jump a max height of 1.90m. Pinto, last year's Empire 8 Outdoor Pole Vault Champion, would leap up to #9 on the all-time program record list thanks to the outstanding mark.

Hannah Allison (Herkimer, NY/Herkimer) would round out the meet, jumping 1.50m for her top High Jump mark. She would place second in the event.

The Pioneers will now turn their attention to next weekend's Saint Lawrence Open, which will take place next Friday, February 20
