UTICA, NY - The UCHC has announced its players of the week, with Utica women's hockey taking home the conference's Rookie of the Week honors for the third-straight week. First-year goaltender Katie Sheahan (Oak Lawn, IL) was awarded the title, her second consecutive, following a two-win, one-shutout performance over Chatham University. Her play helped the Pioneers lock in the #3 seed in the upcoming UCHC Championship Tournament, which begins on Wednesday with a home matchup against #6-seeded Manhattanville University.

Sheahan and the Pioneers traveled for a two-game road set at Chatham to wrap up the regular season slate for both teams. Needing two regulation wins to climb in postseason seeding, Sheahan did her part, saving all but one shot she faced in her 120:00 of play. She finished with a .970 save percentage through the two contests. In the first matchup, a 2-0 victory, the first-year netminder turned away all 18 shots to earn her second-straight shutout, and third of the season. The following day, she stopped 14 of 15 shots in a 3-1 win that helped propel the Pioneers into the #3 seed of the UCHC Championship Tournament.

Utica women's hockey returns to action in the First Round of the UCHC Championship Tournament this Wednesday, February 25th, when they host #6-seeded Manhattanville University in postseason play. Puck drop is set for 4:00 pm in Utica's Adirondack Bank Center.
